Who Are You?
No, really – who are you? You might say, I’m the type of person who loves creativity, who enjoys seeing what my body can do physically, who enjoys challenges, admires leadership, wants to make a positive impact in communities, who looks and feels great in your skin, who enjoys human connection, who seeks to learn new things… who are you? What are your talents? Your qualities?
Who Do You Admire?
I asked this because there is something in them that is within you – I’ll say this again because it’s profound – there is something about that best friend, that leader, that teacher, that mother, that father – that is already within you. How can we harness that? As your coach, we identify it, we nurture it, we put them into your own words, and we run with it. We start living it out, each day, one small step at a time, until eventually, you’ve created powerful self-trust and self-confidence in the person you are and are becoming – this is you living in your purpose, on purpose.
I admire people who climb mountains, who push themselves physically – this for me meant that I admired vitality, fitness and mental strength and resilience, and I wanted this in my life. I admire inspiring individuals on the ground, in communities, making a positive difference in the world through action. I admire the psychologists of the world, the deep thinkers, those who dare to ask big questions, and so, I knew I was driven towards positive psychology and coaching. I admire local artists who set up a canvas in the middle of the dessert or mountain pass and paint their hearts desires. This means I am to be an artist and to nurture my creativity. I admire loyalty and integrity, and so, surrounding myself with loyal friends who also honoured integrity was important. Goals mean honouring what we admire. These are purpose-driven goals.
There is something incredibly powerful about aligning our goals with WHO we are. This is what purpose is all about. When your purpose is being deeply honoured through your choices, you will feel it emotionally, physically and even on a soul level.
Putting Down My Books & Focusing on Who I Am
I have every 28-day challenge book, course or study guide you can think of. The day I put those down, and started understanding who I am, who I am really – and using this as my compass, my guide in every decision I made, small or big, I started living in alignment with my values and making an intentional effort to nurture my qualities.
What Happened Next
Without realising this at first, I started creating positive feedback loops in every life area. I promise you, once you start creating just one positive feedback loop, it unleashes a powerful ripple effect. I realised that every life area is connected. For instance, my vitality area is connected to my relationships. When we start looking after ourselves and filling our cups, we start to see that our relationships begin to flourish. When your cup is full, you have more to give, more presence, more energy, more patience, more love and more gratitude.
Ask the Bigger Question
So, the next time you set a goal, or sign up for the next 28-day challenge, I challenge you to ask yourself: Why am I committing to this? Who do I wish to be or become?
Is it to lose 40kg’s, or is it to become the healthiest you can be, and then in turn create a positive feedback loop from a cup that is destined to overflow into all other life areas?
Is it to just give up something of temptation for 28 days and just ‘box through’ the last 10 days, or is it to uncover a world of newfound clarity for a month?

“Working with Claire gave me a chance to figure out where I am and what I want. I was able to organize my thoughts and prioritize my goals in a concrete way that facilitated me taking action and making big changes in my life during the 12-week period. I left every session feeling inspired, motivated and clear about the direction in which I was heading. The insights that I obtained about myself and what I want in my life made the process incredibly transformative for me. Thank you, Claire, for your encouragement and support.
